YOU MIGHT AS WELL JUST GO AHEAD AND GET STARTED

Anne Lamott is a winter writer.  I think of rereading parts of her books when there is a chill in the air and the leaves have fallen. Her book Bird by Bird: Some Instructions on Writing and Life, published almost 20 years ago (!), is one I return to at least once a year and sometimes more.  Her recommendations on writing just makes sense about which one cannot argue:
You begin to string words together like beads to tell a story. You are desperate to communicate, to edify or entertain, to preserve moments of grace or joy or transcendence, to make real or imagined events come alive. But you cannot will this to happen. It is a matter of persistence and faith and hard work. So you might as well just go ahead and get started.”
To me, Anne is someone I could imagine hanging out with and as someone who would cut through all the b.s. and say 'oh, just get over yourself.'

In life, we all need a friend like that.  Who is yours?
