RALEIGH, NC - Senator John Edwards (D-NC) today received the endorsement of the band Hootie & the Blowfish and announced that members of the band will be on hand tomorrow when he officially files his candidacy for the South Carolina primary.
Members of the Columbia, South Carolina-bred band Mark Bryan, Dean Felber, Darius Rucker, and Jim "Soni" Sonefeld released the following statement announcing their endorsement:
"We are pleased to announce our endorsement of the candidacy of South Carolina born Senator John Edwards for the Presidency of the United States. We do so individually and collectively as HOOTIE AND THE BLOWFISH.
"We believe John Edwards represents everything that is great about America. A first generation college student, born in a small mill town, who went to public schools, public colleges and with hard work has become the epitome of the American success story. Even with his great success, he has never forgotten where he came from.
