what it's time for is up to you--

Monday, November 3

Speaking of the National Debt, our President has set his sights on raising an unprecedented $200 million. Yet, there's no one running against him in the Republican primary. Well, there was one guy that I heard call in to a talk show on NPR, but I'm not sure he counts as the opposition.

Just as he did in his 2000 campaign, President Bush has chosen to evade spending limits by not participating in the presidential campaign financing system. (With $200 million, who needs matching federal money?) Other candidates, including front-running Democrats, are considering opting out as well, threatening to turn the presidential nominating process into a hunt for big money.

What is needed is a system of full public financing. Models for such a law are already working well in Maine and Arizona. Other candidates, including front-running Democrats, are considering opting out as well, threatening to turn the presidential nominating process into a hunt for big money.

Add your name to the Lincoln Call

Say you're fed up with the high cost of campaigning, and the high price we pay when special interest money dominates public policy debates. Call for an end of government of, by, and for the wealthy special interests.

and blog on, my friends.
